It is NOVEMBER guys. I can’t even. I love this time of year. I love the cooler temps (or envying of people who actually get them), I love all the hustle and bustle and I love planning family time! I have been working on the boys Christmas lists and trying to keep in mind camper living (limited space) and it is harder than I thought. Wyatt is still at a pretty easy age but Corbin is a bit trickier as he has grown up and matured so much the past few months and I am looking forward to growing up his toys as well! I am having a hard time choosing just a few 🙂
My sweet friend found this door mat and it needs to be in my life – like yesterday. SO anybody wanting to buy me a Christmas gift, this is it 😉
I ordered my 2017 planner (May Designs for the win – AGAIN) and I can’t wait for it to get here. Something about having an empty fresh clean planner in front of me makes me all kinds of giddy and happy. I have a feeling 2017 is going to be a busy and exciting year for us!
Amazon. Everyday. All day. All the time. The end. But seriously, customer service is awesome, prime is awesome, Amazon is just life saving. #truth. If you are a prime member and have little boys at home I highly recommend the free Prime Series called Stinky and Dirty. It chronicles the life of a trash truck and a construction truck that are best friends and it is seriously adorable.
Bible art journaling. I am so intrigued by this and totally want to get started. Small problem. I LOVE my falling apart small little Bible I can throw in my purse or my work bag. It does not leave much room for journaling. Solution – use one of my 3784523 empty notebooks to art journal the passage I am reading. Everybody else hoards cute empty notebooks too, right?! Totally normal. Sometimes I think I was meant to be a teacher. School supplies make me way too happy.
Andrew took Corbs to the country for the weekend and I have bubba with me for the weekend. I LOVE that the kids are getting some solid one on one time. I’ve only had just Wyatt for one afternoon by myself so far this stretch and I am wondering what I was ever so stressed about with just one kid, ha. We have had so much fun and I am so looking forward to all the snuggles and spoiling that is going to happen this weekend. I already miss my big boy though….sigh.
I can’t believe this is our last weekend in October. Time is like on super sonic speed right now. We are heading out camping this weekend with two of our favorite camping family friends and Andrew’s family. I am so excited to get out and away for a bit with these kiddos!
This is Us. Totally and completely in love with this show! It is so good and just gives me all the feelings EVERYtime. We recently became cord cutters and ditched our cable (gasp) but honestly it has been the best thing we have ever done and we are loving it. We have an apple TV (one time purchase $99) and sling TV ($20/month). I’ve downloaded the apps for our favorite TV stations onto the apple TV and we honestly haven’t missed a beat ( we did not watch that much TV to begin with) but every show we watch is available for free the next day on the app and as far as kids shows go it’s basically on demand for PBS and Disney jr. It’s good stuff friends – consider it! Ditch the cable bill and start saving today!
We are in vacation planning mode and this makes me SO happy. First up Branson and Nashville in December. I cannot wait. I am just so excited to visit some new places and make these memories with my family.
I think I’ve mentioned before that Natalie Grant is one of my favorite Christian artists to listen to. She has a song called King of the World and I have been hearing it so much lately and it just has been resonating at home with me. We have this disaster of an election around the corner – GO VOTE FRIENDS – and as much as I can get myself worked up thinking about the “what ifs” of the world I am trying to raise two Godly and kind sons in; it all come back full circle in this song. At the end of the day left or right, red or blue, donkey or elephant – that doesn’t matter. We are serving a King, our whole purpose on this Earth is to serve Him, to love Him, to praise Him. The King of the world is our forever constant, our comfort, our savior. So, at the end of the day I will raise up my thoughts and concerns and pray to our King that He will continue to guide the world we live in, the world He created. Take a minute and listen. Maybe we should all make this our theme song for life.
I am SO excited Halloween is right around the corner. Corbin had his costume parade at school today and it was probably the sweetest thing ever. I can’t wait to see all my friends kids dressed up and having fun.
I am still on a total high from my sister’s wedding. I just had the best time with my family and visiting with family members I have not seen in years (and them meeting my kids for the first time!). We are given one family during our precious time on this earth and I just want to soak up as much of that time as possible.
Have a great weekend and a SAFE and Happy Halloween friends!
We had the best time celebrating our anniversary last weekend. Top golf, Sully (excellent movie) and dinner. It was a perfect afternoon/evening away from the kiddos to just be with each other!
The kiddos and I trucked to the zoo on Monday with some dear friends. We got to pet a snake and saw so many of our favorite animals. The weather was perfect and it made a great start for the week!
I have been taking the kiddos on a bike ride or running every night that I am not working. It has easily become my favorite part of the day. It helps burn off some extra energy so by the time we get home every one gets baths and goes to bed without fights. On a side note – I found this bike seat for bubba and it is amazing! He loves sitting up front and pretend like he is driving. I feel very stable with him up front and I defiantly highly recommend this seat!
Last Friday night the wives joined our hubbies on the BBQ cool off team up at the Fort Bend County Fair. We stopped and had margaritas prior to our arrival and then feasted on ribs, chicken, and brisket when we arrived. I feel like my hair is still lingering with the smell of BBQ a week later, but it was so worth it. They guys are already planning next years cook-off. I hit up our local farmers market last Saturday for the first time and I loved it. I loved supporting our local businesses and I totally scored some yummy treats! I plan on going again this week after my pilates class Saturday morning. One of my besties also came over Saturday and we ventured to the mall for an old navy excursion (Corbin was convinced we could buy the dog and threw a fit when he realized we couldn’t bring it home with us) and lunch before heading to the pumpkin patch. We had the BEST time at the pumpkin patch…the kids ran wild and Ali and I got to eat funnel cake. win, win. We shut the place down and called it a successful Saturday!
I remember a few years ago when ankle booties came into style I shunned them away and swore I would never convert to that style. Well, my friends, I have converted and I am in love. Ankle booties, especially in these mild Texas fall/winters are the best thing ever. I love them. I am on search for an open toe pair like these..
Im super pumped that tomorrow starts October! October is one of my favorite months for so many reasons! Bring on the pumpkins, cooler temps, our wedding anniversary and holiday planning. This Friday has me excited for all kinds of reasons.
Our wedding anniversary is Saturday October 2! (7 years!!!) I love Andrew so much and each passing years brings new challenges and new joys. It is so fun living life with him by my side. We had a goof laugh the other night when I stumbled across that FB messenger had saved every message we exchanged from when we first met. It was perfect timing to find that and we laughed so hard about so many of the messages. My baby sister is also getting married this month so it is now extra special!
The county fair is going on and I plan on heading up there tonight (kid free)! Andrew and some of his buddies are on a cook off team and the wives are heading up tonight to crash the party! I’m so excited for an evening with some of my besties.
Pumpkin patch time! One of my longest and dearest friends Allison is coming over Saturday and we are taking the kiddos to the pumpkin patch! I love pumpkin season. I love takin pictures in pumpkins. I’m (PUMP)kined up!
I have yet to convert to technology calendars for my life planning. I LOVE a good paper planer with my life laid out in front of me. I have been using May Designs for so many years now and I LOVE them! I love customizing the design and the interior. They are the best and SO affordable. I can’t wait to order my 2017 planner (if I can ever decide on a design).
Halloween. I love Halloween. I love dressing up, I love seeing all the kiddos dressed up, I love trick or treating. I love it all! We have been doing family themed costumes since Corbin was born and it has been so much fun! I wanted to do a Toy Story family this year but Corbin set me straight on our costume choices and has already picked out a costume for each of us – stay tuned!
It’s been a super busy few weeks so this post is full on randomness. Happy Friday guys and I hope you weekend is filled with fun and relaxation (mine is filled with work..sigh).
Natalie Grant. If you don’t know Natalie Grant you are missing out. She is such a talented Christian artist. Her voice is amazing, her songs are amazing. She is such an inspiration. Find her and listen to her. SO so so good! I listen to KSBJ in my car and there are so many talented musicians and groups out there that sing the praises of the Lord. If you haven’t heard of KSBJ I encourage you to flip to their station (89.3 FM) and spend some time there. Before you know it they will be taking over your radio and your life will be changed. Natalie also just released her new book. I ordered my copy last night (they were 50% during her FB live release event) and I cannot wait to get in the mail.
I had a kid free lunch with my momma yesterday and it was so nice; good for my soul. Momma+mexican food = perfect day.
I love quotes. I want to make a quote and prayer journal – I even have had a book for years waiting to be transformed. I will start it one of these days. I love this quote. It is words to live by. Be kind guys. always. You never know the road people are walking and the battles they are fighting.
I think it is almost time for Wyatt’s first haircut. He has got quite a little party going on in the back. Im just not ready…why is my baby growing up?! 🙁
I always have good intentions of waking up early and just having some me time. Some quite time with my bible, time to fold the laundry, work on my blog, etc etc etc. I am tired though ya’ll. SO tired. I’m trying but it’s just not happening. I feel like most days we are flying by the seat of our pants. I hope this changes soon. Days when I can get at least an hour to myself before the rest of the house is awake are the BEST days.
The boys are required to use large canvas tote bags from the school as their bag. Over the summer, the thought popped in my mind to handprint (or footprint for wyatt) the back of their bags at the beginning and end of each school year and when they graduate from pre-k into elementary school I will be able to use these bags with their handprints of growth to store some of my favorite childhood memories of theirs (art work, outfits, etc). I am kinda bummed that I didn’t think of this idea sooner when Corbin was first starting school, but better late than never! ( mom confession – I couldn’t find Wyatt’s bag until the day before school started hence the name written with sharpie.)
I am going to make this school year less frantic and more happy smooth for everybody involved. I am going to make a conscious effort to pack lunches and prepare bags the night before school.
I ordered these laces off of amazon for Corbin’s sneakers and they are lifesavers. Gone are the days of forever untied shoe laces. Of course when he is old enough to do the tying we will convert back but for now these are a lifesaver (and time saver!)
My pre-school moms group met again today for the time this year and it was oh so good for my soul. I treasure these two Fridays a month of mom time.
Corbin rocked his first day of school. He hopped out at carpool and didn’t shed a tear. Wyatt, however, cried all day. Bless his poor sweet self. It broke my heart when I heard that but I have faith that he will adjust and it is good for both of us. On my first kid free day I met a dear friend for breakfast and celebrated a new venture in her life and my kid free-ness with martinis, queso and breakfast tacos ( yes, I made an expiation for my September spending freeze – our schedules never match up and we were celebrating life!). It was the perfect combo and the perfect date! I then went to pilates and took a nap. Perfect day? YES!
We have SUPER busy but great weekend ahead. Have a good one friends!
It’s Friday! Hooray! This week has been pretty low-key. I am looking forward to some family this weekend as we head out to the country for the weekend. Happy Friday guys and stay safe this weekend!
1. These tie dye shirts Ri and Corbin made at Nannie’s house are the best! They had so much fun (and Corbin made a huge mess – shocker). My mom got her tie dye kit and shirts at Wal-Mart but here is a similar at Amazon. Corbin response when we un tied his shirt was “WOW! Mommy it’s so blue.” I think it is safe to say he is happy with his creation.
2. I am trying a new class at Club Pilates (a new studio that opened right by our house) today and I am so excited. I took a reformer class at the YMCA many years ago before our wedding and I LOVED it. I am excited to see if this place is as awesome, if not better.
3. I am pretty much in love with Circle E. Candles (I buy them at Bucees) and I am totally digging this new scent I am trying. Its smells so good and I feel like I am absorbing caffeine through osmosis 😉
4. I have 2 birthday parties and a baby shower in September and I already finished gift shopping for them. This is HUGE for me. I am usually a last-minute shopper and wrapper and I am really trying to change that habit. Plus, I am going to test out doing a No Spend September (more on that later).
5. Corbin and I tested out a pretty fun science experiment involving skittles and water this week (Thank you for the fun idea Miss Sandi). My sweet neighbor told me about it and he LOVED it! I want more toddler friendly experiments to do with him so if you have any favorites send them my way!
It’s friday again and I am oh SO tired. SO SO SO tired you guys. I worked in the ER last night and it was a BUSY night. I’m glad it is over and I am grateful at the end of each shift that I was only there to work and care for others children knowing that mine were safe and healthy asleep in bed. I know that alone is such a gift and life is fragile and one day I might be on the other end of the stick (God willing that never happens). With that said I am off until Tuesday (YAY!) and that means a weekend full of family and friend time! I’m linking up for some friday favorites and five on friday again today.
The olympics have been the highlight of my week. Maybe one of the highlights of my year (and I am only watching them from my couch). I LOVE the olympics, I always have and this year is WOW. These athletes are amazing and they are making America proud. I love how the news is being filled with these joyous moments these days, they are special and so deserved. The gymnasts and swimmers have blown me away this year. I mean is Simone Biles a superwoman or what. I think she has more muscles in one of her thighs than I do in my entire body – and she flies. I have just been in awe and tears (I am a crier).2. My double stroller. It took a long time for me to cave and buy this beauty but I seriously love it. Baby jogger forever. This double summit X3 has not disappointed and I am loving all the miles I am already logging on it. I will (one day) run another marathon or ten 🙂
3. The library. (nerd alert). I have not been to our local library in forever but I took the boys this week and we had a ton of fun. Free and fun entertainment will always top my list. And did you know the library has DVDs to rent…for free. Like real legit movies – its like blockbuster(do those even still exist?) but better!
4. This mug is one of the few that survived the de clutter of 2016 and currently the only one that isn’t packed away in a box. I left it out on purpose; it is my new life motto. cheers (yawn). I bought 2 of these mugs (one as a gift) from MorningSunshineShop on Etsy. I am HUGE fan of Etsy and I had the best experience with this shop. My mugs came beautifully hand packed and with care instructions. (you can tell from my photo someone was “helping” me do dishes and it accidently got put in the dishwasher, but it still looks great!). Nichole has SO many adorable custom mugs you can choose from – I highly recommend a visit to her cute little shop.
5. Thanks to the handsome hubs of mine I was able to get away for a girls night earlier in the week. Dinner at a favorite restaurant and Bad Moms movie with some of my favorite mom friends 🙂 It was splendid.
It is Fri-YAY ya’ll! I am extra excited because I am off work until Tuesday and get to spend so much time with family this weekend. I have been working every other night this week so I have been exhausted and just feeling like I have barely seen my family. AND it’s time for another edition of five on Friday (i really need want to be able to insert an emoji here….is this possible in blogland?!?!?)
We buried (upside down and facing our house) a statue of St. Joseph in our front flower bed last night. Right before Corbin put the dirt back in its place we said a prayer over our house as a family. Ya’ll, Corbin was killing me the cuteness. He was SO serious when I told him to pray and recited our entire meal time prayer right then and there 🙂 Andrew and I added on some extra words of thanks and requests at the end. My dear sweet Aunt Monica was one of the most devout catholic women I know, so when our realtor asked us if we had buried St. Joseph yet I just knew that was something Aunt Monica would have told me to do on day 1 (just like she told my mom to put a statue of Mary in her front window the week of my wedding for good weather and no rain – the weather was perfect wedding day!). St. Joseph is a patron saint and when prayed to for nine days following his burial in your yard the hope and belief is that St. Jospeh will intercede in your prayer and aid in God’s will in the selling of your home.
Cousins. We grew up in Texas and ALL of our other family was in New York. This meant we only saw cousins and grandparents once or twice (on a good year) a year. I remember that one of my biggest wishes as a child- that we lived closer to our family. The time spent with my cousins growing up are some of my fondest memories and I am forever grateful that my boys have ALL of their cousins within driving distance.
Bluebell Ultimate Neapolitan. Ya’ll. I know I featured bluebell in last weeks five on friday and I promise this won’t become a tradition, BUT when bluebell pops up in your insta feed notifying you that Ultimate Neapolitan is their next flavor to return to stores TODAY you just die of happiness a little bit on the inside. This my FAVORITE until the end of time. There are some things in life that you just don’t pass up, good ice cream being one of them. Good-bye diet. Get in my belly now.
Fresh flowers. One of the positive things, for me, about being on the market is that I have been keeping our island stocked with fresh flowers. I don’t normally set aside a portion of my budget for a fresh flower supply but I just might start. There is just something about having fresh flowers that kick starts your day, makes your house look so welcoming, and puts a smile on your face. God’s creations are beautiful.
Chip and Jojo. They are my kind of people. I know that 99% of all people get the warm fuzzies from them. I honestly believe we would be real life BFFs. Andrew and chip are both wordworkers and pretty hilarious people. Jojo loves to bake, decorate and garden, I love to bake, decorate and garden. See where this going 😉 BFF in the making. SO when I heard the news that (a) I had missed their visit to the Star Furniture in Katy you can only imagine my absolute devastation but (b) then they announced they were having a SECOND silobration in October I got super excited. Tickets went on sale last night for a private concert (at the silos) where chip and jo will make an appearance during the weekend. I’m not sure I’ll actually indulge in the concert tickets (as much as I would love to) but I am certainly going to beg ask Andrew if we can go back for the silobration weekend!
Go buy you some Neapolitan and link up for some friday fun at these wonderful blogs!
And if you are having a hard time cooling off, try a leaf blower, works every time 🙂
These two. Right here. They are my heart beating on the outside of my body. As hard and challenging every SO many of the days are right now I would not trade one second of having them. They are our biggest blessings and our biggest adventure. Raising them is my honor and privilege.
I am a blue bell fanatic and I am dying to try out their new flavor. Anybody else? My problem is I can never just “try” it. One spoonful turns into one pint mighty quick 😉
We have another open house this weekend. I am so anxious. I so badly want this “plan” we have to work out. I am trying to remind myself, and be at peace, that sometimes God’s plan is not our plan. I pray that is not the case for our home selling. I also pray that the PERFECT buyer comes along. I pray that the future homeowners will love this house as much as we have and take advantage of the awesome neighbors that come along with it.
My hubby and I have been running together and I am totally loving the bonding time. On Wednesday we ran to the grocery store to get milk. We were those people, hot and sweaty, hanging out in the cold dairy section for wayyyy to long before the jog home. Texas heat is not for the weary.
These girls are life long friends – through thick and thin. I am SO happy our paths crossed like a million years ago. We had so much fun meeting aunt jenn for lunch. She loves it when we bring the traveling circus her way 🙂
This is my very first link up and I am loving it. My blog is two weeks new. Stay for a bit and catch up on our story 🙂
